Delicious Carne Asada tortas that were so big that I couldn't eat the whole thing in one sitting. Also tried the quesadilla as I wasn't sure how big the tortas would be. The quesadilla ended up being as big as a taco bell grande burrito. Totally worth the .03 mile walk from the hotel.

Cashier didn't understand English so my order was messed up but they was quick, professional and very good service in fixing the issue. The owner was friendly and kind enough to have me not pay the additional but I still paid bcus we live in a world that we all are trying to make a living. Very courtesy and we'll recommended spot. It even has a laundromat next door and a market.

I was craving a burrito after work and wanted to try a different Mexican restaurant instead of ordering from one of the same 100s I've eaten at before throughout the Peninsula. I called and placed an order for pick up. I ordered the Grilled Chicken Burrito with everything on it. I was pleasantly surprised by this restaurant. It is a little hole in the wall, but thier prices are great for the quantity of food they give. The food is fresh, they use clean ingredients, and the meat wasn't over-seasoned. Their customer service was pretty good. I will be coming back.

Ordered a super burrito and it was good, didn't disappoint. 5 stars because of the kind lady at the register. She offered me chips and 3 kinds of sausa, delivered food to my table and offered a to-go bag for my leftovers. Highly recommended this place.

So another taqueria in South San Francisco what a surprise. Well this taqueria isn't like any typical taqueria in SSF. The thing that sets this place apart from the rest is that there vegetables, guacamoles, sour cream, salsas, meats are so fresh! You can taste it with every bite of your taco, burrito, quesadilla. One thing that they sell that I have not been able to find around these parts is a genuine Torta Ahogadas. This breakfast staple comes from Guadalajara Mexico and only certain parts sell this delectable treat. The literal translation of this is "drowning sandwich." Why is this a drowning sandwich? Here is the basics of this dish. Its a sandwich roll or baguette stuffed with carnitas. Which then is dunked in either a tomato base sauce/salsa or dunked directly in hot sauce. Your choice if you want it traditional which is dunked in the hot sauce or if you are a first timer dunked in the salsa and drizzle some hot sauce on top. Two Three bites and done! That is how you have a torta ahogada. You would be surprised and think that the bread would be mushy and fall all over the place but it doesn't. It is very messy but very good. Great for hangovers. This is a must try if you go to Hillside Mexican Grill or Guadalajara Mexico. And for you non speaking people Ahogada is pronounced "o-gada".

But perhaps the real star of the menu is the elusive Torta Ahogada. This Guadalajara delicacy, often referred to as a "drowning sandwich," is a must-try. Picture a soft sandwich roll or baguette filled with succulent carnitas, then dunked in either a spicy tomato sauce or fiery hot sauce. The experience is both messy and indulgent, as you savor the burst of flavors with every bite. David P. emphasizes that the "drowning" aspect might seem daunting, but the bread holds up beautifully, creating a delightful culinary adventure.

In summary, Hillside Mexican Grill isn't just another taqueria; it's a celebration of Mexican heritage, where each dish tells a story of tradition and authenticity.
